A man described by police as the leading cocaine baron in the Schenectady area is expected to seek his release from Albany County Jail today on bail, authorities said Wednesday.
However, Albany County Assistant District Attorney John Wappett said he would oppose any bail proposal put forward by the suspect, Jesus Guzman, 28, who was arrested by Schenectady and Colonie Police in Colonie last Thursday on weapons possession charges.
Schenectady Police Det. Sgt. Dennis Gregoire said Guzman, who is known to have used about two dozen aliases, has captained a thriving cocaine-dealing network in Schenectady for more than two years.
