NSW: Suspected road rage attack on pedestrian=2

The witness said he saw the pedestrian, aged in his mid-30s, and the driver glaringat each other at the intersection of George and Jamison St about 4.30pm (AEST).

He said the pedestrian raised two fingers in an insulting gesture before the car lurchedforward and knocked him down.

"When he was near the edge of the car the vehicle accelerated, knocking him to theground with the wheel on his leg," said the witness, who asked to remain anonymous.

"The car then paused for a moment and then continued forward, stopping with the wheelon the man's chest.

"The car then reversed and pulled over and the driver waited quietly while police andambulance officers arrived."

The man was unable to stand up because he had a bone sticking out of his right shinand he also had blood coming from his mouth, the witness said.

"There's no doubt in my mind the pedestrian was run over deliberately - it was roadrage," the witness said.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said he had not heard any suggestion that road rage was to blame.
